Junior Adventure Camp

The Kent Parks & Recreation Jr. Adventure Camp is designed with outdoor adventure in mind. We work with Kent State University's Adventure Center and Cuyahoga Valley National Park to plan an entire summer outdoors for your pre-teen! See trips and activities below. All filed trip costs are included and lunch is provided.

Location: Plum Creek Park, 590 Plum St, Kent, OH 44240

When: 8 Weeks - June 9th-August 8th (No camp June 19th & week of June 30th)

Time: 9 AM - 4 PM

Who: Campers entering 4th - 6th grades

Max Enrollment: 25 Campers per week

Public Registration: Opens on April 1st - Current KPR Families and 2024 Camp Participants will receive early registration dates.

Weekly Cost: $162 Resident / $172 Non-resident
$5 discount per week for any additional siblings

Registration: $15 one-time registration fee

What to Bring: Campers should wear clothes and shoes appropriate for outdoor play and varied weather conditions. Lunch is provided, but snacks are encouraged. Please send campers with a water bottle, sunscreen, towel, water shoes, and a change of clothes.

2025 KPR Kidz Camp at Davey

Have your child spend the summer at one of our beautiful state licensed childcare centers! Field trips, swimming, a movie and special guests are included each week. Small groups combine learning and fun in the arts, recreation, reading nature, team building, STEAM, health and wellness, and leadership activities. Field trip costs are included. An afternoon snack is provided.

Camp Information:

Location: Davey Elementary 196 N. Prospect St. basement (park near playground)

When: 8 Weeks - June 9th- August 8th (No camp June 19th & week of June 30th)

Days: Monday-Friday

Time: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Grades: Going into 1st-3rd

Max Enrollment: 36 children

Public Registration: Opens on April 1st - Current KPR Families and 2024 Camp Participants will receive early registration dates.

Weekly Cost: $145 Resident / $155 Non-Resident

Registration Fee: $15

Additional child: $5 discount per week per child

Full time county vouchers accepted!


2025 KPR Kidz Camp at Kent Rec

Have your child spend the summer at one of our newly renovated state licensed childcare centers! Field trips, swimming, a movie, special guests, gardening and volunteer opportunities are included each week. Small groups combine learning and fun in the arts, recreation, reading, nature, team building, STEM, health and wellness, and leadership activities. Field trip costs are included. Lunch and an afternoon snack are provided.

Camp Information: 

Location: Kent Rec Center 1115 Franklin Ave.

Dates: 8 Weeks - June 9th-August 8th (No camp on June 19th & week of June 30th)

Grades: Going into 1st-6th grades

Days: Monday-Friday

Time: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Max Enrollment: 45 children

Public Registration: Opens on April 1st - Current KPR Families and 2024 Camp Participants will receive early registration dates.

2025 Lil' Learners Preschool Camp

Lil’ Learners Preschool Summer Camp

TIME: Monday-Thursday from 9:00-12:30
LOCATION: Roy H. Smith Shelterhouse (601 Middlebury Rd.)
LENGTH: 8 Weeks - June 9th-August 7th (No camp June 19th & week of June 30th)
AGE: 3-5 year olds
PUBLIC REGISTRATION: Opens on April 1st - Current KPR Families and 2024 Camp Participants will receive early registration dates.
WEEKLY RATE: $75 Residents / $85 Non-residents
REGISTRATION FEE: $10
MAXIMUM: 24

Your preschooler will have the opportunity to play in Fred Fuller Park, walk the Hike and Bike Trail, create arts and crafts, sing songs, read stories and make their first friendships each week this summer!

Welcome to the 2025 KPR Lil' Learners Preschool Summer Camp! We are looking forward to a safe and fun filled summer experience for you and your child.

Important things to remember

  1. Your Five Star account must be created or updated before the first day of camp.
  2. Doors open at 9:00 AM. Please use the side door of the Shelter to enter and exit with your child. Please pick up promptly by 12:30PM.
  3. If your child is going to be absent from camp, please call the KPR main office at 330.673.8897 or the site cell phone at 330.235.4247.
  4. Parents/guardians are required to sign their child/children in and out each day.
  5. Supplies needed (please label everything)
    1. Backpack
    2. A complete change of clothing (including undergarment)
    3. Hat for sunny/hot days
    4. Water bottle
    5. Closed toe shoes
  6. All children must be potty trained. 
  7. The children will be playing outside daily (weather permitting). It is recommended that your child wear comfortable clothing. Tennis shoes are preferred, but closed toe shoes with straps are permitted. No flip flops.

DAILY SCHEDULE: 

  • Arrival: Handwashing- Preschoolers will practice self-help skills by following visuals to
    independently use the restroom and wash their hands. 
  • Independent Activity: Preschoolers will begin table activities selected to promote learning as it follows the weekly theme. 
  • Large Group Learning/Music ("Circle Time"): Preschoolers will make choices, practice turn taking and waiting, and engage in group participation. They will practice greetings, counting
    skills for reading, understanding the calendar, and other early learning skills. 
  • Centers: Preschoolers make choices to play in centers designed to support early learning
    objectives as it relates to the weekly theme. 
  • Snack: Preschoolers make requests and practice waiting and turn taking. Students practice
    self-help skills by cleaning up their areas.
  • Outdoor Experience: Preschoolers engage in outdoor gross motor activities. Read Aloud: Preschoolers practice active listening skills and critical thinking while engaging in
    a read aloud of books following the weekly theme. 
  • Dismissal: Handwashing- Preschoolers will practice self-help skills by following visuals to
    independently use the restroom and wash their hands.
